Vanilla Yu Jing lists

Got a tournament this weekend and I'm thinking of taking Vanilla Yu Jing (I change my mind a lot). YJ was my first faction and I really want to represent vanilla - I hate link teams; I think they basically ruin the game. YJ is perfect for that because their sectorials suck. They also got huge boosts from the last few mercenary release as they plug YJ's main weakness - shit defence. As such, they take advantage of the vanilla bonus (mercs) better than any other faction. Without further ado, lists! Note that I am writing this before the tournament; things might change.

This is what I am planning on using when I need a bit more death dealing capacity:

Basic principles are the following:
- You've got a half decent defensive set-up if going first on turn 1 with the TR bot acting as bait for the Hac Tao, which then absorbs fire like a champ. He'll probably die, but he should take your opponent's order pool with him. If he doesn't die you've probably already won. Nice thing about him is that if he pops out against most targets hitting the TR bot he'll blow them to hell in one shot with 17 to hit. The Hac Tao is the best defensive piece is Yu Jing, which is the thing they are worst at, hence why he is in the list, even if he is 65 points for only B1.
- You've got 2 sets of primary and secondary attack pieces. In group 1, you have the Zuyong and Rui Shi, and in group 2 you've got the Husong and Lu Duan. What's missing is a camouflaged attack piece for knocking over defensive HI link teams (a MULTI HMG on the Hac Tao would be so hot), which is a major weakness of this list. The Rui Shi smoke shooting with marksmanship is pretty effective, but ARM7 often just saves the wounds and doesn't care. I have really come around to the Zuyong. He's a basic bitch, but he's only 1SWC, a tough lt. and he can use the order quite well.
-   Your attack pieces are all robust to crits. They might go unconscious, but you can pick them back up easily enough.
- After you've dusted the defensive pieces, you flood forward with your cheap warbands looking to chain rifle soft targets and melee hard targets. The krakots in particular are very important for the latter. Don't squander them early if you think you'll need them to stomp out some Janisarries later.
- You've a sprinkle of specialists for utility (gadgets and healing respectively) and scoring points.

The second list is very similar, but with a few more specialists and some cheaper snipers instead of the Hac Tao to make room for those specialists:

I've had to cut a Shaolin, which makes me sad. Losing that melee potential is really annoying, but I'm mostly just pissed because it means I don't get to that magic 30 order count! I'm 1 point off dammit! Anywayz, this way I do end up with 2 bots, which is helpful. If sabotage comes up I will give one to the engineer, otherwise they will both be with the Dr to heal the snipers. I really wanted to get a guilang FO into this list rather than the Keisotsu, but they're just too expensive. A celestial guard would also be nice because of the +2WIP on the FO and the shotgun for DZ guarding, but I think the bot is more useful. I wish I had a bit more time to playtest. It's a real shame the KHD doesn't have spotlight. They would make me breath much easier, but the KHD can score the regular hacking card, and the ninja is excellent in Tic-Tac-Toe and Highly classified, able to hang out next to the button all game and make a late sprint to flip the ones you need, all while being a potentially legal melee threat. Shame it doesn't have a combi for suppression (SMG would be best!), but at least its cheap.

The two snipers are both decent order sinks - Armand with his ODD and Luna with camouflage. The nice thing about Armand is that there is basically nothing that has a good ftf against him except MSV2 snipers, which aren't very common. B5 dickheads like Janissaries are expected to knock him over, but not with overwhelming odds, so he should slow them down, and occasionally he can just dominate with a 12s rolled. I will try to set up Luna so that they can double team threats via a tower of death. The snipers are also really good secondary attack pieces, so you don't need the Lu Duan. The game plan is basically to kill ARO pieces and smoke as needed with the warbands so that you can press buttons on turn 1, then harass your opponent with chain rifles for the rest of the game so they can't reverse your presses, with the Ninja coming in at the end to seal the deal. If my opponent deploys badly I can go for a charge with the Rui Shi (using combined orders with the Kuang Shi most probably), but I don't see that coming up often. This list is for tic-tac-toe, highly classified and cold sleep. I think I'll take the other for supremacy and show of force because it likes to get forward.
